I’m back – Its been six years.
I was reminiscing after reading over the posts I made 6 years ago. I’m wishing I would have continued, so much has happened that I wont be able to really recapture. Lets see if I can keep this going for more than a couple posts. I’ll make an honest attempt!
Declan has developed a passion for watching the news, but only after his bedtime.
“Its time for bed” - “I haven’t watched the news yet, how will I know whats going on in the world?” - “You’re 8 years old, you don’t need to know.”
I know his game, but I can’t help but approve.
Starting 📚 “Dark Age” – The Fourth Installment from the Red Rising Series by @Pierce_Brown – I’ve been putting it off because I haven’t been sure I can take the emotional roller coaster it is bound to put me through. Here we go.. expecting everyone to die in the first chapter.
Just finished 📚 The Light of All That Falls by @IslingtonJames - It is one of the best trilogies I have ever read. It has normal stuff — complex characters, plot twists, magic, battles and even time travel. But also a thoughtful study of morality, freedom, and determinism. 10/10
2019 Family Retrospective
Since I just started this blog I wanted to take some time to collect some pictures over the past year that didn’t make it onto other social media sites. I just picked a random collection of pictures of the big events that we did as a family during 2019. It was a big year for us, we had a lot of adventures and made even more special memories:
Ali and Emberlynn at my sister’s wedding:
I think the world would be a better place if we took more guidance from animals. Why stop with a groundhog predicting the weather? I’m sure other similarly qualified animals have making predictions that have gone unnoticed for many years.
Learned a lesson today: Never register a domain name with real contact information or without WHOIS privacy.
I’m not sure what I was thinking. To the 27 people who called me today thinking that they found a sucker, you got me; I’m still not buying anything.
What am I doing here? I think I might stay awhile.
For many years I have had this fantasy that in the future I will be able to look back and see a timeline of my own life through the lens of my social media. When I look out at my various profiles, I ask myself whether my fantasy has a chance of coming to fruition. The answer to me seems very clear, “no,” it does not fulfill that dream.
Each flavor of social media offers something a little different and many times it feels mandatory to function within society.
Second-grade spelling word practice turns accidental poem:

Don’t ask me what it means…
A conversation a few days ago with my 7 year old in the car.. “Dad, do bears come from Las Vegas?” “Like an actual bear?” “Yeah…” “Why do you ask that? No. Las Vegas is in the desert.” “I’ll ask Alexa when we get back home.”
